The West Hills Animal Hospital & Emergency Center team is ready around the clock, 365 days a year, to treat your pet in our fully-equipped veterinary hospital and intensive care unit (ICU). Our facility is specially equipped to treat life-threatening conditions and we are fully staffed at all times.

Is It An Emergency?
You know your pet best. If something is worrying you, it is best to be safe than sorry. Some emergencies are easy to identify. Others are not, though they may be just as life-threatening to your pet. Pet health conditions can change rapidly. If you have concerns about your pet’s condition or behavior, or observe the following symptoms, please bring them in.
- Allergic reaction, hives, or severe itching
- Bleeding that does not stop from any part of the body
- Bloated, distended, swollen, or painful abdomen
- Collapse or loss of consciousness
- Difficulty breathing
- Eye irritation, inflammation, swelling, or other discomfort
- Frostbite or heat stroke
- Inability to urinate or defecate
- Inability to deliver puppies or kittens
- Inappetence
- Ingestion of poison or foreign material (chocolate, human medication, edibles)
- Lacerations, bite wounds
- Lameness or non-weight bearing on any limb
- Loss of balance or consciousness
- Major trauma, falls, hit-by-cars, large wounds, broken bones
- Pain, shaking, vocalizing
- Persistent vomiting or diarrhea
- Seizure activity
- Snake bite
- Staggering, stumbling, head-tilted, sudden blindness
- Vomiting or diarrhea with blood, violent episodes
