Dr. Kearns is a native Long Islander, growing up in Nassau County. Dr. Kearns graduated from Ross University in 1997 where he received his pre-clinical training on the island of St. Kitts and clinical training at Oklahoma State University. After graduation Dr. Kearns returned to Long Island and spent three years in private practice followed by 8 years in emergency practice. In 2008, Dr. Kearns purchased a small animal general practice in Port Jefferson. Dr. Kearns found general practice rewarding on the relationship side but the day to day running of the practice was draining and, after 15 years and much deliberation, Dr. Kearns elected to sell. He is very excited to be practicing emergency medicine again at West Hills Animal Hospital & Emergency Center. Dr. Kearns lives with his son, Matty, his dog, Bogey, and four cats: Mouse, Squirrel, Chunky Monkey, and Mr. Nosey Pants. In their free time Dr. Kearns and Matty enjoy playing golf together. They are long-suffering New York Jets fans, as well as big fans of lacrosse (high school and college) and Oklahoma State Football.
