Dr. Ashley Kim is a rotating small animal intern at West Hills Animal Hospital & Emergency Center in Huntington, New York. Prior to pursuing veterinary medicine, she worked as a civil and traffic engineer in California, where she developed a strong foundation in analytical problem-solving, project management, and collaborative decision-making. Her unique career path reflects a longstanding passion for applying science and critical thinking to improve both human and animal lives.
Ashley earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Midwestern University and has a clinical interest in emergency and critical care, internal medicine, surgery, and evidence-based patient care. She is also trained in small animal acupuncture through CHI University, providing her with additional perspective on multimodal pain management and integrative medicine.
Throughout her training, Ashley has sought diverse clinical experiences while emphasizing compassionate client communication, thoughtful clinical reasoning, and teamwork. She values building strong relationships with clients and colleagues and believes that empathy, education, and collaboration are essential components of excellent veterinary care.
Outside of the hospital, Ashley enjoys spending time with her dogs, Rocky and Ruah, exploring new places, and continuing to learn across disciplines. She remains passionate about the intersection of engineering, medicine, and innovation and is committed to lifelong learning as she continues to grow as a veterinarian.
